James LaForce
Founder and CEO
James LaForce is a well-known media and communications consultant, with an insatiable enthusiasm for the trends and temperaments of the ever-changing cultural landscape.
LaForce was raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and studied English literature and writing at Columbia University. Early in his career, he worked under the legendary fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert, who is often credited with putting American fashion on the global map.
James and his husband, writer Stephen Henderson, are active in managing the LaForce Henderson Foundation, a 501C3, which funds a wide range of causes and organizations aligned with the agency’s mission and purpose. These include Planned Parenthood, The Center of New York City, SAGE, Senior Action in a Gay Environment, The New York Public Library’s LGBTQ Archive, The American LGBTQ+ Museum, the Hudson, NY chapter of the Salvation Army, among others.
In 2018 James and Stephen were recognized at the annual Bailey House Gala & Auction with the organization’s Rand Skolnick Social Responsibility Award. LaForce serves on the Municipal Arts Society in New York board and is a former board member of Housing Works.
LaForce and Henderson spend time at their house in the Hudson Valley where they are active in several local organizations focused on community service and preservation, including The Alliance for Positive Health of Columbia and Greene County, Olana and the Thomas Cole House.
